“Serve the HR Professional ~ Advance the HR Profession”

 

Each year the SHRA Board develops a set of goals and objectives for the year.  This goal-setting process helps us plan strategically for a successful year, serve our members and our community by advancing the HR profession and meet the requirements of SHRM as an affiliate chapter.

Membership

·       Retain 75% SHRA membership

·       Increase SHRA membership by 10%

·       Maintain SHRM Membership Super Star status with a 10% increase in SHRM members

·       Increase number of SHRM certified professionals by 10%

·       Maintain SHRM Foundation Chapter Championship status through our continued, growing support of the SHRM Foundation and increase contribution level by 10%

Member Engagement

·       Increase member engagement by offering and promoting a broad range of volunteer opportunities from micro-volunteering through board and committee participation

o   Volunteer pathway program, core areas, survey, action steps

·       Complete a study to determine why members renew and do not renew

·       Implement new member orientation

·       Implement new member welcome gatherings

·       Implement icebreaker/communication/table topics activity in response to member preference

·       Promote our initiatives in core leadership areas to engage our members in meeting our strategic goals

·       Reach more members and a broader audience with our social media campaign including LinkedIn, Twitter and myshra.org

Workforce Readiness

·       Promote and support CareerSource Suncoast initiatives to provide potential employees and employers with engagement opportunities

·       Establish relationships with community resources to connect with, identify and support workforce opportunities and solutions

·       Connect HR professionals seeking career opportunities and our members-in-transition with local employers by expanding the use and promotion of our Careers website page

·       Host our 1-Day Conference on relevant topic(s)

College Relations

·       Partner with USF-Sarasota/Manatee and State College of Florida to provide training on resume preparation, job seeking and application skills, and interviewing and business etiquette techniques to increase the likelihood of successfully gaining employment with a local employer

Certification

·       Offer certification prep and study group sessions to increase members’ and potential members’ likelihood of successfully passing their certification exam

·       Increase the number of certified professionals in SHRA and our community

Legislative

·       Provide current and regular updates on state and federal legislative changes

·       Encourage our members to become involved in the legislative process by keeping their representatives aware of the needs of local employers and the impact of legislative changes on their constituents

·       Establish relationship with SHRM A-Team members and collaborate for enhanced legislative activities

Diversity

·       Our diversity initiative TBD

Community Involvement

·       Build partnerships in the community to increase engagement and awareness of SHRA

·       Offer networking opportunities to bring HR professionals and business community members together for common topic conversations

·       Offer after hours networking opportunities to bring SHRA members and community members together

·       Offer non-profit spotlight opportunities for resources in our community that can benefit local employers and their employees to be featured at monthly SHRA meetings
