SHRA Announces 2006 Member Sat Survey Results!

Earlier in the summer, the SHRA Board of Directors once again sought your input on how satisfied you were with SHRA’s products and services.  Your feedback is critical as we are using to continue to make changes so your membership in SHRA continues to be of value to you.  So in a nutshell, here’s what YOU had to say…

The study took place across all SHRA member levels.  Of the 189 active members who received the survey, 39 members responded for a response rate of 21%.  Since 67 members had to participate in the survey to obtain a +/- 10% precision level, the survey results are not statistically valid -- yet the results DO provide a good picture of our members’ opinion.  About 56% of respondents were SHRA members less than three years and 41% of the respondents do not have PHR or SPHR certification.  We were delighted to learn that over 33% of our respondents learned about SHRA and the values of membership from other SHRA members.

Here’s some graphic representations of other things we learned:

Most respondents (44%) are able to attend between four and six meetings a year; with the number one reason why they don’t attend being schedule conflicts.  Many people commented on the flexibility between the breakfast and luncheon meetings and felt that programming has significantly improved.  We were also delighted to learn that 88% of you felt that SHRA met your needs!

The chart above demonstrates that overall; member respondents are very satisfied with SHRA and its services and we have improved significantly from last year in terms of the HR Professional of the Year Award (á 69%), LeRoss Parker HR Scholarship (á63%), Programs (á11%), and Certification Study Group (á 9%).

Most of the respondents felt that the level of program content was about right (84%).  Verbatim comments shared also told us that we need to continue to find programs that will appeal to both junior- and senior-level HR professionals alike.  Some of the suggested topics included: acquisitions/mergers, affordable housing, communication, compensation, culture, disaster planning, hiring, HR metrics, leadership, mentoring, performance management, recruiting, strategic HR, succession planning, and labor relations.

We heard what you had to say!  From this feedback, here’s what the Board intends to do:

·         Recognize any SHRA member who successfully refers a new member to SHRA with a free meeting!

·         Certify as many monthly meetings as possible.

·         Implement a workforce readiness committee to focus on employability and other issues.

·         Seek programs that will appeal to the more senior-level HR professional members as well as the mid- and entry-level members.

Look for these changes to start occurring in the next few months.  Again, thanks to all who participated in the survey!
