2010 Goals and Objectives
"Serve the HR Professional - Advance the HR Profession"

Goal 1
Members in Transition
Purpose: To be a resource to the HR professional in transition and to provide networking opportunities focused on sharing job leads and providing support for SHRA Members in career transition in pursuit of establishing, transitioning, or upgrading their careers.
Our Program called Members In Transition includes several aspects: 1) Providing support and outreach to the HR professional who has lost his or her job due to the economic downturn; 2) to provide a network for the HR Professional in career transition; 3) to provide quick and timely notice of job opportunities to those in transition and; 4) to create an on-line toolbox for those SHRA members in transition.
Elements:
SHRA Membership
One year free membership in SHRA to those who have lost their jobs
Support Group
Group will meet at least once per month either by teleconference or in person. The in person meeting will be conducted just prior to or following SHRA’s monthly membership meeting. Meeting purpose will be to provide HR professionals support, a sense of belonging and affiliation to other local HR professionals during career transitions.
Meetings will be open-forum style and may include a guest speaker. Standing agenda items will include new job leads, resume writing, interviewing skills, networking skills, and motivational support. Participant materials will be made available to meeting attendees and developed over time.
Job Leads
Job leads will be exchanged via email or through a specific distribution method that will be separate from the myshra.org job postings in order to keep the sharing of these job leads among members only.
Careers Toolbox
A Toolbox will be located on myshra.org that will include tips, leads, articles, templates, methods, and other information to assist members in managing their careers.
Affiliation with Right Management Associates in Tampa
We will maintain a connection with the HRTampa careers program with Right Management Associates.
HR Professional Resume Database
A voluntary catalog of available HR professionals will be offered to local employers seeking HR professionals for either contract or full time employment.
Considerations
A non-solicitation policy for career and educational partners will be in place.
Group will comply with SHRA Code of Ethics
Membership in the SHRA Members in Transition will be flexible with group members using the group as available or necessary.
Goal 2
Enhancing Community Partnerships
Purpose: To partner with our local workforce readiness organizations such as the Suncoast Workforce Board, Manatee and Sarasota Chambers of Commerce and EDC’s to be an HR resource for community education, support and specific community initiatives.
This Program will enhance SHRA’s name recognition and branding in the Manatee/Sarasota area and will provide a much needed focus and inclusion from the HR community in workforce readiness initiatives.
Elements:
Present a joint workforce readiness/leadership conference in May with our local workforce board. This has already been confirmed. John Spence has been agreed to present at this conference to challenge local HR professionals, business leaders and local business owners to think strategically on workforce readiness issues. Jose Berrios, SHRM Board Member, has been requested to represent SHRM and provide welcoming remarks at this conference.
Sit on the Board of the Suncoast Workforce Board
Appoint a SHRA liaison to represent SHRA’s interests in community workforce initiatives and also provide education and information to the SHRA membership about available resources
Partner on educational forums with community organizations on workforce readiness issues
Goal 3
Student and Small Business Outreach
Purpose: To engage students and small business enterprises in SHRA
Elements:
Coordinate a group of representatives from our local colleges and universities to participate in and have a role in SHRA. This will include regular formal meetings and participation in member meetings.
Reach out to students attending our local colleges and universities through specific efforts to engage them in the HR profession
Appoint a student intern to work with the SHRA Board
Offer a scholarship to a student entering the HR profession
Increase student and small business membership in SHRA
Offer topics at our member meetings that will entice small business owners or their representatives to attend SHRA meetings and become a member of SHRA.
