Tom Topping has spent his career and much of his spare time serving adults and children. His life's work in education and coaching is a record of continuing success in positions of increasing challenge and responsibility. With achievements in all aspects of teaching, coaching, and Human Resources, and with a particular emphasis on team building and training, he has led large-scale pilot programs in performance management, re-envisioned an entire human resources department, and managed the implementation of a $5 million educational grant. He served as President of Suncoast HR, the Pinellas County, FL professional human resources association in 2016 and 2017, and is currently a District Director for HR Florida.

 

As a former teacher and Director/Head Coach of Nike Team Florida, a Nike-sponsored travel basketball team, he worked with thousands of young athletes, including some of the nation's elite. Six NTF alumni have been drafted by NBA teams and many more are playing professionally overseas. Many of his former players play for their respective FIBA national teams and one even won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games. During his tenure, over 120 NTF alumni received full college basketball scholarships (a value estimated at nearly 60 million dollars.) 

 

Tom is currently building his business, Training Perfected, as a full-time speaker, trainer, and coach. 

 

In his spare time, Tom enjoys travel, movies, theater, live music, and rarely misses a daily hot yoga class. 

  5 Keys to Genuine Employee Engagement 
 
Description: HR plays a critical role in increasing an organization's bottom line, while simultaneously impacting its vision, mission, and goals. This program will positively impact those key areas by developing and implementing engagement and retention strategies that will increase individual and organizational value, with a focus on aligning those responsibilities across all business units. Learners will understand how to leverage engagement strategies to positively effect different business functions across their organization and enter into critical partnerships with other departments, while focusing on the target of achieving larger organizational goals. This program will help to improve participant's skills in strategic planning that are crucial to capacity building, increase critical thinking around performance management, and develop overall leadership effectiveness.

Learning objectives...

The learners will be able to:

1) Demonstrate and justify why improving employee engagement is critical in their organization based on the latest, national employee engagement data, as well as their own data.
2) Advance HR's role in the organization through analysis of key performance indicators around genuine employee engagement, while developing new partnerships across business units for the purpose of improving the organization's bottom line. 
3) Implement and gauge the effectiveness of the 5 Keys to Genuine Employee Engagement throughout the organization.

1.      More effectively analyze an organization's engagement through an objective lens.

2.      Develop skills for understanding the external and internal factors that trigger genuine employee engagement and begin a plan to manage and maximize those skills.

3.      Understand how to increase genuine employee engagement through empathy.

4.      Increase skills for recognizing hidden leaders, developing talent, and increasing retention through the use of genuine employee engagement strategies.
