Speaker: Martha Bryson

Martha Bryson, SPHR has been an HR practitioner for 20 plus years. Her career has been in hospitality, entertainment and healthcare.  As the Director of Staff Services, she oversees HR functions that provide for staff member wellbeing such as occupational health, retirement, and insurance, leave of absence/ADA and worker’s comp programs for Hope HealthCare Services. 

Marty, as she is known to those around her, also serves a mentor for department managers assisting them with staff relations and leadership development to sustain success in their role and allow them to be a catalyst to excite staff members to do their best work.  An active SHRM volunteer, Marty served in numerous roles at the chapter level including president in 2006. She was awarded the HRMA of Southwest Florida Human Resources Award of Excellence in 2003.  Marty has served the HR Florida State Council as a District Director, Treasurer, Registrar, Secretary and Vice President.

  • Annual Evaluations vs Continuous feedback pros and cons of each
  • Preparing for the Appraisal Meeting - understanding the importance of setting and staging
  • Explore employee expectations at different Life Stages and Career Stages to understand what they want out of their job
  • Understand how individuals receive feedback by using the personality and behavior indicators identified in Dr Taylor Hartman’s Color Code Theory of Personality Types to explore communication techniques used by and between different personalities for effective engagement
  • Use Transformational Language to deliver message in positive impactful way
  • How to deliver a Performance Discussion using the BEER and BET methods of feedback
