SHRA rewarded two student members with scholarships to the 2019 HR Florida Conference at its August meeting.

The College Relations committee solicited applications from all of the local schools and selected Shona Taylor, the Sarasota Career Services Manager at CareerSource Suncoast and an MBA student, and Gabriel Hawk, a Training & Development Specialist majoring in Professional and Technical Communication at USF Sarasota-Manatee.

Applicants had to submit an application and a letter of recommendation in addition to being a SHRM student member. Eligible students were juniors or seniors, enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs in the areas of business or human resources.

The selections were based on the following:

1.      Leadership in the community or at work

2.      Motivation and determination in the pursuit of his/her career goals

3.      Interpersonal skills and communication skills

4.      Community service or extra-curricular activities
