About SHRA

The Sarasota-Manatee Human Resources Association (SHRA) began in 1963, when a small group of personnel professionals met and formed the Sarasota Personnel Association as a "meeting ground" for discussing issues related to personnel administration. Today, SHRA has 324 professional and student members from across sunny Florida's Sarasota and Manatee counties with 43.5% holding industry recognized HR certifications.

The mission of SHRA is to champion the highest professional standards of HR ethics and performance by providing ongoing professional development, resources, networking and support for its members and the community.

SHRA is one of 28 chapters statewide as a part of HR Florida and is an affiliate chapter (#0139) of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the world's largest association devoted to human resource management.  Representing more than 250,000 individual members, SHRM's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available.  As an influential voice, SHRM is also advancing the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.  Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 550 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.
