Renee Hood, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

Director of HR (Home Office), First Watch Restaurants

2016 Tampa Bay HR Person of the Year

With over 20 years of progressive human resources experience at the regional, division and corporate level, Renee is currently the Human Resources Director of the Corporate Office for First Watch Restaurants and was previously the VP of HR at Aviva, a not-for-profit, faith-based continuing care retirement community in Sarasota. Renee has held previous HR leadership and HRBP roles with Tidewell Hospice and Bright House Networks. 

Renee credits SHRA with positively influencing her career mobility and professional development and is proud to have volunteered with the chapter since 2008. "My affiliation with SHRA, both as a member and volunteer have been extremely rewarding.  I am proud to serve as an ambassador of this wonderful association, knowing the incredible network of support and professional development we offer to HR Professionals and local businesses.  If you aren't a member (and volunteering!) you are truly missing a wonderful opportunity to connect with a priceless network of professionals."

Dawn Laidlaw, SPHR, SHRM-CP

Human Resources Officer, Willis A. Smith Construction

Dawn Laidlaw is the HR Officer for Willis Smith Construction in Lakewood Ranch. She attained her BA from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, and also obtained a Paralegal Certification from the Institute for Paralegal Training in Philadelphia. She was a Litigation Paralegal for 15 years, before transitioning into Human Resources, and holds her SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications.  Dawn has served in the capacities of Certification Committee Chair (2014-2015), Membership Director (2016-2018) and Vice President (2019).

Liz Cotner, MA, SHRM-CP

2016 HR Young Professional of the Year

Liz is a highly motivated Human Resources Business Partner with 10+ years’ experience with a proven track record of implementing human capital strategies across all levels of small to large complex organizations. Liz's breadth of experience includes collaborating with senior leaders, including C-Suite, to translate strategic objectives into successful HR solutions. Liz is a trusted advisor and mentor, able to influence key leadership in sensitive employee relations topics and creative problem solving. 

Liz's core HR values include: loyalty, commitment, respect, integrity, powerful listening and communication allowing for the ability to build strong relationships with peers, colleagues and vendors in every field. 

Fellow colleagues and peers describe Liz as a problem solver and a HR geek at heart. She serves on the HR Florida Conference Team co-leading the Chapter Ambassador division and has been volunteering with HR Florida for the 7 consecutive years. 

Liz loves rollercoasters, traveling and is a Michigan native.

B.J. Camarota, PHR, SHRM-CP

After a career in Finance and Human Resources spanning too many years to mention, B.J. retired from her position as CFO of the Plantation Golf and Country Club in May 2019.  

"Now that I'm at this stage in my life where I can determine how I want to fill my days, I am excited to be able to give of my time and expertise to SHRA as this tremendous organization strives to fulfill its mission to its members and the human resources profession."

Denise Goerke, SHRM-SCP

Director of People & Culture, PropLogix

As the current Director of People & Culture at PropLogix, Denise is leading an extraordinary team, building culture and creating a learning organization with a large mission to change the world of real estate through technology and due diligence services.  Other recent positions include Director of HR, ManorCare and Area HR Manager, Yellowstone National Park. 

With over 20 years of HR experience in various industries, she has been blessed with an adventurous career spanning the country.  From the mountains of Montana to the beaches of Florida and a few picturesque spots in-between her love for the HR profession has kept her on the move.  Denise loves start-ups, multi-site locations, and companies experiencing explosive growth.  Challenging puzzles fascinate her and the word “impossible” just doesn’t exist in her world.  Work smart, play like nobody’s watching, and imagine then execute are a just a few of her mantras. 

A recent desire to strengthen, support, and unite HR professionals and give back to the profession she loves resulted in her decision in 2019 to partner with the SHRA Board, Membership, and local HR community.  “We are stronger, and more joyful, together!  I’m thankful and excited to serve alongside some uniquely talented individuals and create some HR magic along the way.”  You can find Denise in her happy place – any place outside, with her husband Bob and furry best friend, Kai by her side.

Anthony Gagliano

Director of Business and Economic Development, CareerSource Suncoast

Anthony has spent a decade with CareerSource Suncoast, assisting thousands of job seekers and businesses with their employment needs.

Prior to joining CareerSource Suncoast in 2009, Anthony spent 2 ½ years on staff at the East County Observer in Bradenton, Florida, covering sports and news for a weekly community newspaper.

Anthony is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism-News Editorial. His writing has appeared in the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Tribune, Bradenton Herald, the Valdosta Daily Times and

Patti Durham, SHRM-CP

Human Resources Manager

Johns Eastern

Ms. Durham currently serves as Human Resources Manager at Johns Eastern. She joined Johns Eastern in 2016 with considerable experience in employee relations, performance management, resource development and community outreach. 

Prior to joining Johns Eastern, Ms. Durham worked with Habitat for Humanity, Drug Free Manatee and the Office of Professional Standards for the School District of Manatee County. 

Cally Ms. Durham is a member of SHRA and previously served as Board Secretary. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Manatee County Crime Stoppers and AmeriCorps VISTA Alumni.

Kathy Shaffer

Relationship Manager, Atlas Employee Benefits

Kathy Shaffer is an experienced relationship manager and works in a sales capacity for Atlas Employee Benefits.  She has been with Atlas for 4 years and a member of SHRA for 3years.  Eager to help the organization, Kathy became a part of the programs committee. Continuing as the membership director position, Kathy is excited to welcome new members and make them a part of the SHRA family.

“SHRA has been a wonderful organization to be a part of both on professional and personal level.  Moving to Sarasota from McKinney, TX to be with my husband was not the easiest transition.  SHRA is the one organization that I felt truly welcomed and I am so glad I joined.  I have made so many new bonds with strong, self-motivated, kind people at SHRA that have become sources of advice and support in both work and personal life.  I look forward to welcoming new members and hopefully offering them the same experience.”

Roseanne Gutmann, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Human Resources Director

Centerstone of America, Inc., a Behavioral Healthcare organization

Roseanne's 25-year HR career started with the Dept. of the Army in Germany. Fro there, she joined her hometown HR department in Charleston, South Carolina. Later, in Virginia, she worked for one of the largest state government agencies implementing large scale culture change initiatives. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in HR Development & Management from the Virginia Commonwealth of Virginia, she served as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Richmond’s Leadership Institute and had the opportunity to travel across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe for a variety of Organization Development assignments.  Roseanne enjoys serving non-profits and has provided a multitude of pro-bono HR services.  As HR Director in Centerstone’s Florida Region, she leads a team of HR Rock Stars to serve approximately 700 full-time, part-time, on-call, interns, and volunteers who “deliver care that changes people’s lives”.

After moving from Virginia to Florida in 2013, Roseanne joined SHRA, earned the Senior Professional in in Human Resources (SPHR) and the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SCP).  “Joining the Sarasota Manatee HR Association provided wonderful networking opportunities that helped me land my first HR Leadership role here in Sarasota. I will always be grateful!”  She served as a Communications Committee volunteer and was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” for 2015.  As a firm believer in the power of personal and professional development, Roseanne is thrilled to be the Programs Director for this amazing organization of dedicated and passionate HR professionals.

Vice President of Human Resources for The SKY Family YMCA, Stephanie Deiter attains great personal satisfaction and reward in her role as a Senior Human Resources Professional. Beginning her career in 2001 in human resources with The SKY Family YMCA, she possesses nearly twenty years of extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. Her broad skill set includes strategic planning, acquisitions, employee relations, risk management, training & development, and benefits & compensation.

Stephanie is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SCP). She holds an MBA from Springfield College as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida and possesses multiple facilitator certifications from Y-USA
